Welcome to the Web Page of UAW Local
5287. We hope that you enjoy the information and learn more about who we
are.
State of the Union We, the members of Local 5287 have been keepers of the gate for bargaining unit employees at Thomas Built Buses and it has been a struggle. But through struggles come significant growth, if we learn and apply what we have learned. Times are hard for everyone especially for working class families. With 44 million uninsured and millions more out of work, the people have spoken in the last congressional election and through their votes stated that we have had enough. The direction of this country's internal policies must change and it must begin with the working class. While there have been many attacks on the usefulness of unions in this country, there still have been so many cases where employees didn't have a voice. We must continue to give the opportunity for employees to not only be represented by their peers but to have part in decisions that affect their working conditions and families. This Local along with UAW Local 3520, UAW Local 5285, and UAW Local 5286 would like to thank our membership for their time and patience as we all grow together. I look forward to the day when we don't have to fight for everything at the banquet table of life. Until that time comes we will have organized labor fight for the rights of working class and those who can't speak for themselves. We salute the courageous men and women of the Armed Services who have sacrificed so much, for so many, for so little. God bless you and we continue to pray for you all to come home soon. Rev.
